Patience is a Gift
This keyboard looks a lot like my empty art canvas in the basement. I'm sitting here in need of writing a devotion about "Patience" and nothing is coming to mind. This puts me in a state of "worry"..humm!
A thought has come to me, "Why not do it while still in fear?" Normally I await the inner peace of the Holy Spirit or He comes to me in the night with a great idea, then I begin to write. This time I will confront worry and fear head on with the Spirit of the Lord, before the calmness comes!Worry and Stress vs. Patience and Trust
My background is conducive to worry. I learned it from the best of teachers. My sweet Mother. I remember admiring her for it. I felt it was a decent trait as it reflected her loving and caring nature, which was evident to all who knew her. Some family members have told me I am a lot like my Mom, in that area a clone! A compliment to me as she was the best Mom God ever molded.
This precious lady suffered many years of poor health, I believe traceable to the worry she allowed to consume her in her younger years. She worried to a point of physical illness at times. When bad things happened in our family we sheltered Mom. We all "worried" she could not handle bad news. I wonder what my family has kept from me?
"IN FAITH, HE..." did not leave either of us in our chosen state of worry. In later years as we walked with Jesus and sought God's will, He revealed a better way. Turning worries into prayers and impatience into a calmer waiting on Him. We began to watch what God was doing in the circumstances of our lives, amazed as He brought good out of every evil that came our way. Mom functioned wonderfully with the new light she chose to shine. I hope the clone analogy continues.
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts, and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7
Paul goes on to tell us how to accomplish this. He exhorts us to think on what is good, true and beautiful, and to live our lives in Christ Jesus.
Worry is something we feel. It is a demon spirit. We will always have feelings and we must confront the spirit of worry by God's Mighty Power in the Name of Jesus! When worry comes, pause and pray, and above all be patient for His reply. We can get rattled when we forget to do that and that is when we jump ahead of God. Remember who you are in Christ. Exercising patience and trust in the Lord brings the victory and sets us free in His perfect timing.
Experience His fullness in the bad times! See the goodness of God in all things! In a close love relationship with Jesus, you can see through His eyes. If you don't know Him, accept Jesus as your personal Savior and the Lord of your life. Ask Him into your heart. Give Him the sins He paid for and submit your life to Him. Receive the victory, the peace and joy only He can give.
Thank You God. You were already in this article before I hit the first key. When worry comes, You are quick to calm me and give me courage. I praise You for Your love and power. Your strength is perfect in my weakness and so is your timing. Amen!
"But the fruit the Holy Spirit produces is love, joy and peace. It is being patient, kind and good. It is being faithful and gentle and having control of oneself. There is no law against things of that kind." Galatians 5:22-23
