"IN FAITH, HE..." Devotional from Cherbear
New Vision Flying With the Eagles
"But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles: they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:31
Agape, Triune, Eternal Vision?
The "New Vision" which allows us to "fly with the eagles" is certainly one worth paying close attention to throughout our "New Life" in Christ. We could call this a "faith and trust vision" as it calls for positive hope for our future and trusting in the resurrection power of Jesus Christ.
In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence. Ephesians 3:1
Because of God's awesome love for us, He sent His Son, Jesus, to be our Savior and our Intercessor. Through His Word and understanding from the Holy Spirit within us, He allows us a kind of spiritual vision into what is and is not sin. However, no matter where we rate sin little sin, big sin, bad sin, worse sin to God, sin is sin. He hates sin and as His children we also must hate sin. Then how are we to see the sinner? His Holy Spirit can help us with that as we view the sinner with the Agape (unconditional love) of Christ! With His Agape Vision, we are to have empathy, compassion, mercy and forgiveness for the sinner.
As I seek to gain "Agape Vision," I understand from His Word, IN FAITH, HE...desires I embrace it and use it wisely! God brought this merciful love to all people; That would be you and me, and all the other sinners in the world! I think it could be safe to call this a "Triune Vision" as well; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, seeing us and loving us with an unconditional love without which we would all perish! I know, how about we call this vision, "Eternal Vision?"!!!
"Whose ships are these that sail along like clouds? They fly like doves to their nests? Isaiah 60:8
This verse speaks with fondness, from God's elation and joy, of the flight of His people returning to Him. At times we all slip away from God to some degree. We may even become disillusioned on occasion. God is always watching and waiting for our return.
Jesus answers, "the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you...: John 14:17
Having God's Spirit within us gives a definate advantage in our quest for "Godly Spiritual Eyesight." Paying close attention to the prompting of His voice will help our spiritual eyesight improve over time. As we become aware of where this "New Vision" comes from we would do well to give God the glory as His Holy Spirit continuously reminds us of our capacity to see with His eyes and hear with His ears.
"But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear." Matt. 13:16
A Prayer to Share:
I welcome Your prompting as You seek to grow me up in Your Word and in my faith. Whatever I should call this "New Vision," I do watch with amazement and awe, the works of your hands, not only in what I can see, but what I cannot see. Expand my spiritual vision each day as I experience the freedom that comes from knowing and loving YOU! Amen
Extra Thoughts from Cherbear
Without Positive Vision, Where is Hope?
The "world way" thinking is limited to what we can do. We plan our future and set goals by what we believe is possible in light of what it offers. We follow its rules to get where we want to go, generated by our own power. Some feel restricted by life's circumstances. Many adapt the "do it to others, before they get the chance to do it to me," solution to a personal goal. Relying on good luck or gambling your way to a satisfactory position in life, is sought by some. Let's not leave out the "what belongs to you, belongs to me" or "the world owes it to me" crowd. I can't do it! There is no way! I have no talents! It's too late! With no positive vision, where is hope? Believers in Christ must do better than that. Christ won our victory!
Mark 10:27 Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God."
God's Word says He has a plan to use every one of His children in a special way for the Kingdom purpose. We are to give Him the glory so others will know what He has done. He wants us to submit to Him, with the intent to obey. Listening to God and submitting my "wanter," to His will, led me in a 180 degree turn!
"IN FAITH, HE..." gave me courage to change my expectations of myself and what He can do through me.
In August of 1994, I was terrified to hit the "ON" button of my computer. God enabled me to read, comprehend, and He brings what I need to remembrance at just the right time. My confidence is in Him. There is no need to rely on myself.
Eph. 3:20-21 Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
I recognize my limitations without Him. I now give Him the glory for what He is able to accomplish through me, as I yield to His wonderful Holy Spirit.
Phil. 1:6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Father God, I praise You for Your faithfulness to me. Hold me back when I start to proceed without You. Please continue Your perfect plan for my life! Amen!
