Bits for the soul!
- Bury Your Head
-
- Have you ever had a time when
something just slipped out of your mouth and later you would
like to find a hole to crawl into or a place to just bury your
head? Trying to impress others will get us into trouble. Not
thinking before we speak can get us in a world of hurt. Sometimes
it is best not to even speak the truth if it will hurt someone.
The Bible says to be good to listen and slow to speak (James
1:19). God has so many verses of warning about the use of our
tongues. Please read just a few below and ask God for guidance
concerning your speech.

-
- Prov. 12:18 Reckless words pierce like a sword, but
the tongue of the wise brings healing.
- Prov. 15:4 The tongue that brings healing is
a tree of life, but a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.
- Prov. 26:28 A lying tongue hates those it hurts,
and a flattering mouth works ruin.
- James 3:5 Likewise the tongue is a small part
of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great
forest is set on fire by a small spark.
- James 3:6 The tongue also is a fire, a world
of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person,
sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set
on fire by hell.
- Wow! Selah! (Be still and just think about that.)
