The Fruits of the Spirit
The
Bible Says:
-
- "...each
of you should learn to control his own body
- in
a way that is holy and honorable...
- For
God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life."

Thessalonians 4,7

Fruits
of the Spirit
Self
Control - "this way and that way"
- God
is a Holy God. Perfect in every way. Jesus is God's perfect Son
and He wants you to grow mature in your Christian faith. God
gives you a choice about what you will do and how you will do
it. It is not always easy to choose to do what is right. Sometimes
you choose to your own way instead of God's way. Wrong choices
can hurt you and others, and God. God's way is always best!
- Call
on Him to help you live with self control.
No
one is perfect, except Jesus. We all do wrong and fall into sin,
everyday. The Bible says, "Everyone has sinned. No one measures
up to God's glory." Romans. 3:23
This
is why we need Jesus as our Savior. Those who know Jesus can call
on Him to help them live by the fruits of His Holy Spirit. One
of these fruits helps us control our actions to do what is right
in the eyes of God. This gift is called "self control."
The
mountains in the Kid Cave Forest are great for skiing. Emmi Squirrel
says they must glide "this way and that way," to keep
from going too fast. Controlling how fast they go down the mountain
will help them stay safe from harm. They need a lot of practice
to keep going in the right direction. The Critters have learned
to control their skis. They want this ride down the mountain
to be fun and free from bad falls.
When
Jesus is in the center of our lives and we allow Him to have
control over us, His Spirit will nudge us in the right direction.
He will show us how to love for Him and others, putting self
wants last. God's Holy Spirit will give us the help we need to
live for God and others. He will help us to have a better life
as we make good decisions that will effect our futures. When
we hear Him and obey what He says, we are using our gift of "self
control."
