Never ask God to help you pass a test you were not willing to study for!
"For the LORD gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding." Prov. 2:6
I am sure you have been told, the older we are the harder it is to learn or be teachable. I can tell you from life experience this is not always the case. I remember my high school years. I squeaked by with B's and C's. If I'd tried a little harder I probably could have done better. My attention span was not what it should be. Those who know me personally, jokingly refer to it as "spaced out." I am easily drawn into my own world of thought. When there, I am extremely hard to reach. If spoken to, I may answer and never remember the conversation.
When this "spaced out" hairdresser of 28 years was called by God to turn 180 degrees and go into Computer Arts, it was with a bit of reluctance that I obeyed the call. However, God had conveniently placed me in a college class for Nutrition a year before. I studied in an attempt to help my dear Grandma Faye to better health solutions. To my surprise, at the age of 48, I not only received an A-plus but because the teacher graded on a curve, I caused the downfall of all but 4 of 13 students who began the class with me. Through that class, God had provided confidence in my ability to study, comprehend and learn.
I will spare you details, while telling you I went from intense fear of the computer's "on" button to guru in a short period of time. I decided to ask God for help every step of the way. Still am! I knew the Holy Spirit brings truth in God's Word and hide it in my heart. Why not ask Him to sharpen my mind for learning and help my attention span.
I am God taught with a lot of self determination. God, through prayer, helped me to remember what I read. He is still bringing what I need to my remembrance. With God's help, I can understand what I read the first time through. In school, it took about 3 or 4 times on one paragraph.
I want to relate to you; God will help you study and remember what you study. Through prayer! He will keep outside distractions away from you and bring what you study to mind when you need it. You just need to be obedient, study and pray. Let Him do it and give Him the credit. Always tell others of the work He is doing in you! The power of the Holy Spirit within you is incredible. Tap into it! There is no better study partner! He will bring you help from unexpected places. Ask God for direction. Follow His plan. He will do it for you!
Holy Spirit,
Touch my heart, mind and soul with wisdom. Help me study and comprehend. Keep distractions away and help my concentration. I know you have wonderful plans for my future. Help me to begin now heading toward the excellence you have called me to.
In Jesus Name,
Amen!
