"IN FAITH, HE..." Devotional from Cherbear

Merciful God/Mastering Gentleness

Merciful God. God reveals Himself to those who love Him and obey His commands. He revealed His merciful Spirit most when He sent His Son, Jesus, to die so we could become His children. However, He did not stop there. He continues to rain down His mercy and gentle corrections every day. God the Father revealed Himself to us through Jesus and by His Holy Spirit has given us the ability to grow continually to become transformed into the likeness of Himself. Through His Word we have been shown how to act, what to do, and where our enabling comes from. His Holy Spirit within us guides us into this Christ likeness we strive to reach. We have a merciful God and He has revealed how we are to master gentleness.

John 14:21 Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him."

2Cor. 3:18 And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

Mastering Gentleness. God always meets us where we are, never expecting us to have grown past that which we are capable at any given time. His mercy knows no boundaries! Each day we can look back and see where we are in need of unmerited grace and forgiveness. Perhaps we have reacted in haste through our humanness or failed to offer to others the fruits of mercy and gentle care. God's instructions are clear, we are to forgive as we have been forgiven and encourage others in their Christian walk.

Col. 3:13 Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

As we abide in Christ, it should get easier to reach deep within, call upon the Holy Spirit and respond to others in ways that will benefit them, thinking less of ourselves, and more about the impact we may have upon God's family or His kingdom purpose.

When I remain "In Christ," I witness a peace within that really does surpass human understanding. When I extend God's grace, forgiveness, mercy and goodness to others, the Lord brings glory to my soul in like manor. It is when I trust in Him to handle a situation, IN FAITH, HE... brings the most amazing conclusions. Someone may be acting badly and instead of judging their actions, I speak words of peace, comfort, and encouragement, exhorting constructive thoughts into the conversation. As the Lord works within that person, He brings healing to those involved and Satan cannot gain a foothold of confusion. Love never fails, forgiveness never fails, and walking in all of the fruits of His Holy Spirit will not fail to bring about good results through forgiveness and gentle correction.

2Pet. 1:3 ¶ His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.

Father God,
How wonderful are your works. Each day I experience Your unfailing grace, bathed in mercy and gentleness that can only come to me through Your Spirit. Thank you for giving me all the time I need to grown in knowledge and understanding of Your ways. Make me a blessing to others as I live to learn and seek to be like Your Son. Amen

"But the fruit the Holy Spirit produces is love, joy and peace. It is being patient, kind and good. It is being faithful and gentle and having control of oneself. There is no law against things of that kind."

Galatians 5:22-23
